Re: Testing the mailing list

ok, I found out what is going on,
each member can choose their profile privacy setting here:
you get there by clicking on "account" under your name on the top right
and then Identity.

I was setting as "private" it is probably the default for the original owner,
now I set it to "other members" so you should be able to see 4 now out of 5.

Now I'll join the group with another email address but without account and explore
how that works.

Yes, that should take you to the member directory.

hmmm...  I don't think it asked me to before.  Or, I was already authenticated when I went to that link before.  But I don't remember signing up.  Hmmm…

So if you didn’t signup, you might not be able to see a list of the members…perhaps Andrea can confirm?

So I clicked on the thing to sign me up and it took me to that page and now it shows me 3 of 5 members.  Me, Mona, and Suresh.

Who are the other 2?  I assume Andrea and ???

Dana Brunson

Are they moderators or something that aren't shown?

They are owners and I guess those don’t show by default.

And I see that if I click on the MEMBERS button at the left (instead of the URL I gave above) I see the fill list.

See attached screenshot.

Gonna put a screen capture in so you can see and also to see how it handles attachments.

So - I changed my profile privacy setting as it says, but then when I go to the directory url you gave it shows me only Surresh and myself.  It says "
Showing 2 of 4 Members"

Not a big deal, but just trying to figure out how this works.

Subject: ECSS at PEARC18, PY8 plans and other topics

Hi folks,

Time for an ecss-all update. We’ve got a few topics to share with you (and a bonus doodle poll, keep reading!).

  • PEARC18! Beyond all the terrific papers, tutorials and posters we know you’ll be presenting, we’ll be holding two ECSS events at PEARC. On Thursday July 26 after the conclusion of the conference, John Towns typically has an xsede-all meeting, likely at 2pm Eastern. We’ll do a face-to-face ECSS staff meeting from 3-4, hands-on containerization training from 4-6 (remote participation supported for both) and then go to dinner together for those interested (sorry, no remote participation there).
  • ECSS PY8 plans. After reviewing review panel feedback and staff climate survey, we’ve developed the following draft priorities for ECSS in Program Year 8 (which starts Sept 1).
    • Improve ECSS project pipeline (proactively recruit, work with ER to spread the word)
    • Increase development opportunities for staff (training, conference attendance)
    • Improved development of training materials (for ourselves and others)
    • Share experiences with like organizations
    • Resolve remaining gateway user attribute submission issues (Amit Chourasia is leading this for us)
  • How’s the work with Jira going? Any problems using this to manage your projects? Reach out to Jay Alamedaalameda@... with any issues. Training materials at https://confluence.xsede.org/display/XT/ECSS+Project+Management+Documentation+Outline, module 0 is the overview, and module 3 is the important one for staff.
  • Adaptive reviews. Over 2017 and Q1 2018, ECSS reviewed over 550 proposals. A sincere thank you to those who have been devoting significant time to this important activity. Ken Hackworth and Lonny Crosby have provided this review count for ECSS-ers.

We’d like to have an ecss-all call to discuss the PY8 plans, especially staff development opportunities. These plans also have several other reviews: XSEDE leadership (March), Service Provider Forum (now), XSEDE Strategic Advisory Board (April) and final the review panel in June. So they may evolve prior to Sept. Please respond to the doodle poll for an ecss-all call to discuss by 4/3, https://doodle.com/poll/4ushviupkyibqbxu.

Available ESRT Projects - Volunteer Request

Andrea Zonca

Adding a few messages to the list to test how the archives look.

All:

We have seven available ESRT projects that need consultants.  I would like to request that all ECSS consultants who have time available review these projects and indicate by leaving a comment their interest.  I plan to assign these projects next week (April 2 – 9) based on the interest expressed by consultants.  After assignment, I’ll send an email to the PI introducing the consultants on the project.  We ask that workplans be completed 30 days after initial contact with the PI, if you have any questions or difficulties in completing the workplan in this timeframe please let me know.

You can find the list of projects on the JIRA ECSS Consultant Dashboard (Second widget), https://jira.xsede.org/secure/Dashboard.jspa?selectPageId=10900.  The ESRT projects available are: https://jira.xsede.org/browse/ECSS3-5189;https://jira.xsede.org/browse/ECSS3-5191https://jira.xsede.org/browse/ECSS3-5190https://jira.xsede.org/browse/ECSS3-5188https://jira.xsede.org/browse/ECSS3-5171https://jira.xsede.org/browse/ECSS3-5180;https://jira.xsede.org/browse/ECSS3-5198.
